Summer BBQ and the Jon Sauer Demo

BBQ was a great success and thanks to Larry Maggi and son along with others including Gordon in putting on the eateries.  There was a brief Show-and-Tell as well.   Hats also go off to Jon Sauer for the demo on the use of chatter tools, and fo being the No 1 Dad, both videos are below.

Jon showed with a home made tool, good hardwood end grain, that you could make a spiral chatter pattern on the wood.  It is not too predictable, and takes some getting used to with good old trial and error.

See the technique in the video at right.

He uses these for topping over a spinning top or whatever.

He parts the thin textured surface off with a most thin parting tool.
